Quick question, what is the general consensus about the current situation dealing with Daniel Hauser?
Personally, I am horrified by the idea of refusing to use modern medicine to deal with his current malady, using their faith as a reason. There is no reason whatsoever why one would turn down or refuse treatment to their child that has been tried and tested by professionals for several years. I dont buy that herbs and prayer will save anyone's life seeing that I can't think of any case at all that has lead to the miraculous healing of the sick. Well, other than those in the fiction of the bible.
Of course the other issue is whether or not the state government, in this case, the Minnestoa judge has overstepped their bounds. I tend to think in this case, where medical treatment would help or save a life , its within the bounds of the gov't to force action to protect that of a minor who does not have the capacity to make such decisions. The state takes children from homes where the parents abuse or do not give them a safe domicile, so this makes sense to me.
The other thing that is shocking (well, not really when you read about the Hauser family) is that the 13 year old child can barely read or write. A fucking crime. A fucking crime in our modern civilization.
I apologize for the profanity, but this really infuriates me.
