Dad is god.

Am I the only one who did this? It really ticked me off to no end that I continually called my dad 'god' and referred to my dad as 'god' to others and vice-versa. Looking back, I do wonder if this was due to the confusion of a patriarchal religion with god as "father" and the "father" as head of the family and stuff. Quite deservedly, the room used to ring in laughter every time I did it, but I find it hard to believe I was the only one to do this. No? Or maybe it's some kind of psychostink. ;)

I don't do it now, but even after declaring myself an atheist, it continued to happen for some time. Please don't tell me I'm the only one. :p

Uhh not that i would remember.. and i guess he would have slapped me back in time before that happened.

But when I think about it.. he "called" you into existence and shaped your personality and provided for you, IF anyone, he should be your God, but give your mom some worship too!! I would expect a bit more equity in that matter, especially from females

Well, in my family and in some other Hispanic families I've seen, "God" is commonly referred to as "Papa Dios" by or in the presence of children. It means "Father God" and I guess it's not too different from "heavenly father". Anyway, I guess it's not too much of a stretch for a sort of conflation between one's real father and "father god" under certain circumstances.

It makes me a bit nervous that you guys can understand the problem, yet I'm the only person to do it. ;)

Wait, this is just reverse Freud. You hate your father and your mother is gay. Or something.

My atheism did coincide with my parents' divorce :p

Oh wait, this makes me look insane.

You are female.. there is no point in trying to make sense of all of your quirks!

"Oh, the nebulousness of the weirdness both of the wisdom and the knowledge of Female! How unsearchable Their judgments and untraceable Their ways! For who has known the mind of the Female? Or who has been Their counselor? Or who has ever first given to Them, and got to be repaid? For from Them and through Them and to Them are all weirds. To Them be the mystery forever. Aw men!" (Romans 11:33)

"The women's thinking processes are mysterious"
*ducks*

JK, don't shoot :(

Take it as a reason for a Facepsalm

;)

I'm surprised you knew I was female, given that everyone is a male on the internet.

I thought you are an old man, people should take the gender thing on this forum seriously. Except me cuz I'm a cake.

With respect, that statement is somewhat contradictory. :D

Granted, I do feel like an old man sometimes.

I'm not sure what I am. I think I've always been nothing. :p

Prole: is cake a race?

Master Ghost Knight: English, so I've got no excuses - other than the fact that dad and god are both three letter words.. I'll also point out it didn't happen all the time, but slipped out from time to time (to my horror). I was just curious if anyone else experienced that kind of thing.

It does happen in some ocasions with some other types of items, I just don't give them enough importance to what they are. To a certain extent that happens to everybody with a diffrent set of items, one of yours just happens to be Dad and God. There are many factors that may contribute to this types of mixovers, but don't worry that is ok.

God knows everything!!
poor guy.. imagine you know EVERYTHING

Can't remember where, but at some point you made it very clear that you are female, which got confirmed by the fact that you didn't want to give out your age or even remotely help people who were guessing
but what you said about "internet = male zone".. i noticed that guys often act as females for the stupidest reasons, be it to make fun of other guys, get freebies in games or live out their fantasies or whatever.. girls often hide behind a male character to avoid being hit on all the time and permanently bugged from bags of testosterone, in some games and forums it is very difficult to find a real girl 0_0

But that is where my "eskimo factor" hits in.. i don't care if one is a guy or a girl at all when i talk to them (unless i want to get into their panties which is rarely the case  )

Okay, I guess I was at fault there. For the record, I'm oold and winkled, quirky and dumb and stuff, possibly male. And now that's done forever. :D

Master Ghost Knight, I appreciate your words. Can you think of any other common associations?

I guess that changes from people to people, and I personaly don't give them aough attention to memorize what they are, I just remember that I do them.
I couple of mixovers I have done recently and remember is the mixover of pistons while I call them hydraulics (because I have been working with those recently), and ocasionaly it does happen in a conversation going "bla bla bla the hydraulics" (not parafrasing) and then a colegue going "oh but they are electrical" and I'm like:
