Crysis 2

I recently... acquired Crysis Warhead and beat it in no time at all (maybe because I was playing on 'easy'). It was quite fun, and quite pretty, so I tried Crysis. Very pretty indeed, and again a fun game, just longer. And the boss is harder, too, even on easy. But all that aside... now I got my hands on Crysis 2... and I'm quite disappointed. The controls are awful, the weapon on screen is console-title-huge and the overall feel is awkward, despite the great addition of an option to disable autoaim (a disgusting thing to deal with in Crysis and Warhead). The level design... feels like it got even more linear now. I'm not entirely claustrophobic yet, but it is a bit sad to see the pretty lighting gone to waste in narrow streets and occasional plazas all day long. That, and the texture resolution is atrocious. Even on the highest settings the textures for non-player models and environmental features are at about Half-Life level. I'm exaggerating of course, but it is quite noticeable. Compared with Crysis 1, the game got uglier, which is a design decision I really don't understand. I haven't played through the game yet, I barely started, but... it is a little bit of a disappointment.

What playing the series made me wonder, though, is... how difficult it would be to make a total conversion of the game to give us Jagged Alliance 2 with Crysis graphics.
One can dream.

Ahhh Jagged Alliance 2 (and 1 for that matter). Good ol' days :)
I'm not sure if I would play JA3 if it was turned into a first person tactical shooter (I get nauseated from first person views often) but I managed Fallout 3 as well. I did miss the turn-based fighting a bit though. Guess I'm just a sucker for old isometric turn-based strategy rpg ish games :)

I think it could still be turn-based, depending on what kind of camera options you add, you could even watch it from an isometric perspective, but the thing is that, just like in JA, you'd only need the turns during combat. Once a sector has been cleared, you'd be able to walk about freely. Until you run into a bloodcat, of course. What I loved about JA was that you could shoot through windows and blow holes into the walls. Bullet trajectory physics etc. were quite novel at the time.

Would also be amazing to implement some sort of drop-scenarios where, instead of having predefined sectors you can access safely via helicopter, you'd get to maneuver the vehicle yourself - if you get shot down by AA, tough luck, but to have the option would be pretty sweet.

Difficult for me to assess; since I have only played the game on PC, in which the systems function better. Remember that this has been called by some reviewers: "the best looking game ever to hit consoles"...
