I recently brought my gaming computer up, and I cant connect to steam. Is there a way to hook up your laptop to your desktop in order to use the laptops wireless card? I know you can do something similar with the xbox.

Why would you want to?

I'm slightly confused as to what you're trying to do, or at least your reasoning.

Does the computer not have a network connection at all? In that case, perhaps you could just get a USB Wireless Antenna from someone like DLINK? They're relatively cheap and would provide much better bandwidth.

If you do wish to use your laptop, then we'd need to know what Operating System you're running. The short answer is that yes, you can do it that way. The long answer is that it depends on what Operating System you're using as to how it's set up. Windows XP has a feature called Internet Sharing that allows you to plug into another computer directly and be a network bridge. I don't know about Vista or 7, but that feature should remain.

Hit me up in chat or here if I'm not in chat and I'll see what else I can help you with.

oh win7 has that feature too.

and if it's only steam out of the whole internet you can't reach there is probably a problem with your pc's or your routers firewall ^-^

This. If you have a network connection already, and can get say, google, then your problem isn't with your connection but with steam or your connection to it. For that, Steam has a pretty solid kb article written up for network troubleshooting: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=1456-EUDN-2493

What you want to do is to hookup your PC to the internet, nothing to do with Steam, if you have internet but not acess to steam then hooking up your laptop won't solve the problem because what you have to do is to reserve the apropriate ports for steam on your router.

But to your specific point, You can create a PC to PC cable connection and then make a bridge between the LAN and WLAN card. I have seen it done once as a quick fix solution but I personaly never done it myself because it is a very eneficient and crapy way to do things. Why would you need to specificly do things that way? Why not just hookup directly the router to the PC trough cable? If you can't, then why not get a wireless card or wireless USB adaptor (which are cheap now a days) and have a defenitive solution?
I would advise forgetting your solution altogheter, nobody does that anymore altogheter because it is a very obsolete and not very praticle way to do things.
