Clotifoth's Sprite Art Thread

That's right. I feel like posting my crappy little arts for everyone to perhaps get the entailed jokes (should they have played the aforementioned referenced game the sprites are from). All made with MS Paint. Sprites gained from various sources, and in many cases, ripped by myself from various games. They should be fairly obvious what games these were ripped from. I made none of these sprites myself, though I designed the art itself from the sprites. Don't kill me please.

Mods, if you want me to add something to this such as additional disclaimers or license of my work or something like that, just PM me or post in my thread or something like that.

Nothing good shall come of this thread. Only cheap humor. But cheap humor made by me. so DEAL.

Really only a practice for future humor to come. Tell me if y'like it :)

Not at all. I think it would be problematic if you were trying to say these were you original creations, but you haven't done that and indeed it would've been quite obvious as your sprites are from among the most well known sprite sets in the video game canon.

But I don't think there is anything wrong with doing what you're doing right now. A lot of sprite artists learn about pixelling and doing sprites from getting hands on with their favorite sprites from games and seeing how they work. Constructing, de constructing and constructing again. Tinkering with things and such. Seeing how things work... nothing wrong with that! Especially when what you are observing is of high quality.

For learning, it's a great way to start out and learn functional sprite application. Learning different techniques from different sprite styles and finding a cohesive balance between integrating that knowledge gained with a new principle that is all your own.

It's really not valid to say "hey these are mine!" But the things that you learn from analyzing the art that you enjoy and that means something becomes you, or so I believe. So don't be afraid to get your hands dirty with those sprites.

Awesomeness. The layout is really the only thing that's mine, lol >.>

And should I eventually make some good pixelly art, I might even post it. I have a few sprites made based off a few old ones, maybe I can fix them up, heh.

Just a suggestion, if you are interested in furthering your craft, I'd recommend joining the battle for wesnoth forums. There are quite a few aspiring and well established sprite artists, who could offer insight into sprite making and maybe you could learn the process of making sprites for games... what goes into it, and all that. It's a cool project.
