What are you planning to do this Christmas? Be it giving gifts to the gods? Be it lighting candles and eating delicious food? Be it sitting and browsing the web? Playing games? Working?

Woops this is Religion thread! So I ask you, how are you going to celebrate Jesus's birth?

I'm not celebrating the alleged birth of that jesus fella. never had. What we here in the high north are celebrating, is that the sun is starting to come back again. you know...winter solstice.

on a different note... shepherds doesn't work at this time of year.

I'm not. I'm celebrating being with my family and friends at a date which was co-opted by Christianity from Pagans, which has itself been co-opted by consumer capitalism and cheap marketing.

Er, Solstice has little meaning in the tropics, so I cannot help but wonder what non-theists living closer to the equator are going to celebrate ... the total eclipse was cool, though. :)

I'm going to be celebrating my wife getting a bunch of paid days off. I'll be brewing beer on the morning of, and then in the evening I'll be playing video games.

I'll be going home for a few weeks, ignoring Jesus almost completely along with the rest of my family, going to at least two parties and probably an extended family gathering as well. On Christmas day itself I'll be waking up early for my little brother's sake, giving and receiving presents and eating a lot of food.

I need to put on as much weight as possible over Christmas. I've lost almost a stone in the time I've been at uni, and I'm already slightly underweight.

I am going to celebrate Christmas with my family and wife. We will exchange gifts, eat, drink, and be merry. I will also try to watch any version of "A Christmas Carol", "A Christmas Story", and the old stop/go Rudolf movie between now and Christmas. Christmas is one of my favorite holidays, right up there with Halloween and Independents Day.

I'm going home for the holidays, and spend it celebrating what it means to me which is spending time with my family, eating a crap load of food and getting presents. It is tradition in my family to get up early on Christmas Eve to watch cartoons :D

Me? I'll be celebrating the Winter Solstace on the 21st and working on the days that other people want to have off.
Why? Because I'm a fucking nice guy. I have BOTH days off, but I'm coming on so that others can take their Liberty to be with friends and family.

Why would anyone celebrate Jesus' birthday during a Pagan Holiday anyways? Jesus was born in April!

I just volunteered to work so a coworker with kids can stay home with his.

So I'll be working all day. Doubt I'll get many calls, but eh you never know.

Last time I worked Christmas I got stuck in Kentucky for 4 hours because a barge hit the bridge and the ferry was closed.

Fun times.

I will be celebrating it just like a proper Christian should. Exchanging gifts with the wife's family in the AM, then traveling back home to exchange gifts with mine, and hopefully get annihilated along the way.

I probably won't even notice it, nothing special about it. Well, my house will be crowded by annoying people for a day but that's it.
