Any one know of any resources on the interwebs or even books that would be useful in helping a layman teach himself some BASIC calculus :geek: or at least help him build the foundations to do so? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Most mathematics textbooks I would guess.

Get high school ones and they should be basic enough.

Either that or, "A Tour of the Calculus." Which I haven't personally read so it might be not so basic.

To be honest, I have difficulty learning from mathematics textbooks, It's the jargon, it goes right over my head. :?

Have fun!
I expected that to be disappointing but was pleasantly surprised that it actually is quite a good Calculus guide.

Slightly condescending in places, and of course old so the style of writing may put off some, but still a good book from the quick look I took.

edit- In response to the above, this book seems to boil down the jargon quite well.

Well I'll have to give it a look in a bit!

And it's kind of embarrassing how quickly I get confused by the language of mathematics, but I'm kind of proud of myself for trying. :)

Really great user. He is a Harvard Grad btw.
Also, never mind calculus, he is doing some stuff on differential equations now!!!
