Board Theme killing my eyes

Is there any way at all a new theme can be added to settings? This white on dark blue is absolutely killing my eyes. It's very harsh, I'd love a white background with a grey, black or dark blue text format.

Gods this is horrible.

Agreed, but...

I don't quite remember why but last time this issue came up our webmaster said it wasn't feasible to implement alternate themes for different users.

I'll leave this thread open in case he wants to comment further.

I'm sorry the theme isn't agreeing with you. I had intended to make an alternative theme but my time has become severely limited and to be fair there haven't been enough complaints to warrant me spending several hours to make a new one. There's not a great deal I can do apart from maybe modifying one of the bog standard themes to work with my modifications and that would kind of defeat the object of the site being somewhat unique.

I remember when we got the new theme. It killed my eyes as well, but it grows on you. I wouldn't have it any other way now.

You could look to see if your OS has a colour invert option.

You could use stylish and greasemonkey to change the color scheme on the site with relative ease.

I like to think it's the content of this site that makes it "unique!"

I was the last one to complain about the colour theme and I must say that it hasn't gotten any better. It still kills my eyes and limits how much I can read at a time. There should have been at least two options: a light on dark (this one) and a dark on light...

So, in case it makes any difference, I'll restate my objection to the current colour scheme.
Thank you...

Firefox users can change the colors with addons like "Color That Site" and "Color toggle".
Personally, I love the blue background. I guess it depends on your screen.

I like the blue. It is soothing and simple in my opinion. I would be unable to use the site if it were done in that terrible orange above or in most reds or yellows. A green would be possibly good perhaps, but overall it works just fine.

Evident;y, the same may not be said for everyone, as we have seen in the above posts. I do agree with you, but the wallpaper here obviously doesn't 'agree' so to speak, with everyone. As I understand it, there may be software to alter this sort of thing from one's own computer, and there are some web-browsers that have a default/invert colour setting. :) I don't have one though. I don't know that it's even possible to have different colour options for different users made by the forum, as was touched upon earlier.

Having multiple themes doubles the work with the special customization involved in the board, and changing the color is a bunch of busywork, I'd rather have a functioning board with all of the little tweaks working than a colorful board where you have to switch themes to get certain things to work consistently.

Given that simple browser addons can obviate the problem for the few complainers, I don't see why admin should bother creating alternate themes.
