Why is it that whenever people say the bible/torah gives good laws to live by, they get mad when i ask if they agree with making a young girl marry her rapist, telling women to be silent in the church, killing all non-believers- you know, biblical laws and morality? :|

It is because you are on to something. I was listening to a you tube video, a former clergy man who said the best way to get a theist to question their belief is to make them doubt their holy book is the word of God.

It was the start of my de-conversion when I started to question God's morality in the old testament.

You have to be carefull when you bring up the old testment with Christians... They say that Jesus christ changed most of the old laws and that all those old laws are irrelavent because of the whole salvation thing. Take for instance the whole detailed alter sacrifice they will say that it was a ritual that god used to test them...

And then the whole rapping a girl and then marrying her... Thy will say with further study on the subject you will realize that marrage was differnt back then then it is now. And that was just a way that god saw fit for the man to provide food for her for the rest of her life(no sex involved)

those are just th responses I have gotten when bring up this subject

Except every single teaching Jesus gave was hidden in obscure passages f the OT

A wife must give it up or she can be stoned.

Also they just stated that women have no say because they're basically property

I posted those two laws after someone said specifically that Judaism gave good laws to live by.

i was then pemabanned.

So if the definition of marriage changes, how can they object to gay marriage based on the definition...

Additionally, surely this means that the Bible is not relevant to life today?

However if it is, you would need to pick and choose which pieces are relevant.

Which would mean that the Bible is a weak and subjective piece of text. ;)
