I think he had business ties to the cotton industry. I bet he owned slaves too...

Seriously though, was that guy for real? There's no way that wasn't a joke. How come the crowd didn't break down in laughter? Interesting to see how long religion has been in American politics though -despite claims of secularity :roll:

Edit: NM... 'The Onion' "Poe'd" me. I was suspicious about something that looked like a television broadcast being filmed in 1924... Good shit though.
