Political vandalism certainly makes me curious. This is no exception. It is essentially a political statement.
I guess the game becomes one about outlasting. If the people who pay for the billboard must also pay to repair the damage; then this sort of criminal damage is designed to censor via vandalism. Keep damaging the message until the messenger runs out of money.
Perhaps someone should invest in some cheap surveillance gear. It may not stop the vandals, but it'll help my curiosity some to have them caught so that I can read their statements.
