I've requested that your attempted derail be removed because it's unfair that just because you dislike a topic that you think you can spoil it with ranting idiocy.

No, the common usage of the term atheist is not meant to convey deism.

Definition of atheism
1
a :  a lack of belief or a strong disbelief in the existence of a god or any gods
b :  a philosophical or religious position characterized by disbelief in the existence of a god or any gods

You seem to find it witty to use an archaic definition of "Atheist" whenever it suits you. Did you honestly mean when you said theists claim atheism is a new or has always been an unpopular idea, that they are actually arguing against deism. Really? Stupid Theists are always arguing that Deism is a new idea? Is that the point of this thread? I think not.

No, you were trying to be sneaky and used the modern sense of the word "atheist" in your premise and then reverted to the term in archaic sense.

I caught you doing this, and now you are mad. Christians were once called atheists as well, mind you.

"Hence are we called atheists. And we confess that we are atheists, so far as gods of this sort are concerned, but not with respect to the most true God, the Father of righteousness and temperance and the other virtues, who is free from all impurity" - 2nd Century Christian

Can you stop trying to spoil this thread with inanity? Inanity where you think you've exposed some nefarious agenda that only you can see? In reality, you're just spoiling the thread because you can't bear to have your preconceptions challenged - so don't fucking read the thread if it hurts you so much.

Greetings,

Xenophanes was a pandeist.

thenexttodie, Christians are atheists with regard to any other god(s).

Kindest regards,

James

And pandeist =/= theist

But it's just a way of derailing a thread TNTD doesn't want to exist.

Atheist repeat that all the time, but honestly I don't know what is that suppose to mean.

it sounds to me like saying that>

I am a bachelor with respect to other women except for my wife

If you believe that there is only one god then you are an atheist regards to other gods. Early christians were accused of being atheists because they rejected other gods and only believed in one.

You are not a husband to other women except for your wife.

It's really simple. You don't believe in existance of Zeus, therefore you take the position of an atheist regarding that particular god.

EDIT: Like you are not a husband (aka believe) of Eve, so you are not married (aka atheist) regarding to that particular woman. You are a husband (aka believe) of Karen, so you are married (aka theist) to that particular woman.

Yes that is true, (obviously) but what is the point that atheist are trying to make when they make that statement.?

the only difference between an atheist and I is 1 God, just like the only difference between a bachelor and I is 1 wife, both claims are true, but so what? is there any meaningful point that atheist try to make when they say something like that?

I personally point it out in context when some religious person says that being an atheist is illogical and stupid etc. I try to expose their double standard and make them think. I've seen many times a religious person making well thought critique against religion other than their own, but somehow they don't apply it in a same way to their own religion.

An insightful image that depicts what I call the myth of religious homogeneity. Many ardent theists appeal to theism as if it is one coherent concept when it is, in fact, a bunch of contradictory and mutually exclusive claims. Even adherents of the same religion hold so much vitriol and bile for members of the 'wrong' sect; it always amuses me when a Christian or a Muslim appeals to this myth - what about all those fellow theists that your sect murdered to prove who practiced the right form of religion?

Well we know from history that if these arrogant ignoramuses didn't have secularism, gays, and atheists to hate... they'd be at each others' throats in the blink of an eye.
