Can people really be so stupid as to buy this? Apparently so.
For those who don't click on the link, this website sells sticks which supposedly add hydrogen to water in order to improve your health.
Here is a video of someone "demonstrating" it's "effects":

Visiting the video itself will see the argument I've already had with the guy selling it.

... one thing he said really stuck out from the others as being strange... isn't H2 an incredibly strong bond and pretty much the most prominent form of hydrogen found naturally? it's been a while since high school chem, but I seem to remeber that... why would H2 then "decay" into a single atom of H?

Either he's a complete fuckwit who doesn't know what he's talking about, or else he's deliberately-dishonest scammer just using fancy words to try and convince people.

They just mean water with a reducing agent added as far as I can see. They call this "active hydrogen" in the same way as hydrogen peroxide or other oxidating agents in cleaning agents or bleaches are called "active oxygen". It is supposed to work as an anti-oxidant to reduce cell damage through "active oxygen" + "active hydrogen" -> water. It does make some sense, but I still call bullshit on most of their claims.

No the H2 bond is relatively weak. If H2 encounters an unstable radical like HO then the hydrogen atoms will be easily separated. But of course it would rarely happen on its own.

Hydrogen exists as a gas and thus cannot be mixed into water. Hydrogen-ions can however... that gives you acid. I guess this is just an advanced version of the old pH-balance scam.

I'm pretty sure that some of the atoms in pure water do split into H-plus ions and Hydronium ions.
The equal balance of these gives us pH 7 for pure water.

I do believe there's already a thread on this... Oh well... Yes, some people are this stupid.
