A question about atheism and materialism

I've been wondering about this relationship. Do all atheists have to be materialists, or do all materialists have to be atheists? Or am I off track?

I would think that all materialists have to be atheists(or maybe pantheists), but most atheistic Buddhists certainly aren't materialistic.

I would have thought that all atheists were materialistic but that all materialists did not have to be atheists :?

I'm not a big philosopher or anything but that makes more sense than the opposite to me. I was a materialist before I was an atheist for example....

I don't think that's possible. If you are a materialist, you cannot believe in the supernatural and therefore cannot believe in God, thus you must be an atheist. Atheism on the other hand simply rejects the notion of God, and doesn't say anything about one's belief in spirits, faeries, the afterlife, ect.

... and FSM knows that there are TONS of atheists that believe all sorts of batshit crazy stuff that doesn't involve gods. :lol:
