A interesting interview with Geert wilders

There is some truth to the claims about cleanliness. Islamic countries tend to have poorer standards of public cleanliness then most Western countries. This is part of why IEDs are hard to spot; a concealing pile of trash by the side of the road is a common sight.

There are of course a great many reasons for this, but part of it is the codes of fastidiousness from Islam. Transporting trash is an unclean activity that will be avoided as far as is possible. A minor consideration, perhaps, but a definite one.

Are you saying that there's worse problems with cleanliness in Arab countries than there are in other countries all over he world?

I'm not sure what you mean about the codes of fastidiousness either. Muslims wipe the shit off their arse with their left hand in order to be clean. A pile of rubbish is nothing.

Indeed, Arab countries have a larger problem with public cleanliness then most other countries. The one notable exception would be India due to sheer population density.

I must admit my source on "fastidiousness" was several years ago and I don't remember properly; perhaps it was more about social status.

Wow, anybody ever been to South America?
Largely christian, western countries.
Dirty as the public dump, mostly
Maybe it's got something to do with poverty?
Those kind of coments really show that people aren't interested in honest discussion, in rational discourse, but only in muslim bashing.

Shhhh... don't point out the incredibly obvious bigotry. The bigots will claim that you're being intolerant.

I have gotta say He did write a dam well essay, naturally it's got shit stains all over it, but hey, if I didn't know better I would go for it..

I don't know how out of context these quotes are from the quran, or the events. I do however know that all of the quotes he used in fitna were all taken out of context and to short to understand the context in which it was written. So this would have to be the same.

As for the cleanliness of the muslim country's, I find this piece really amusing to be honest, since the western nations dump shitloads of shit and un-recyclable trash on Africa. and don't forget all the illigal dumpings done inside of the western country's to conceal the trash.

Yes, it was a really good essay, because, don't get me wrong, criticism of all religions is important to me, but when you do it deceptively it really doesn't help. I mean, I know that sometimes when we're making a point we can easily fall into hasty generalisations and other fallacious modes of reasoning, because by default, the thoughts we have about anything are purely emotional but we try to find good reasons to feel that way (which are usually bad reasons), but the problem is, although the majority of ignorant people will end up hating the thing you hate when you argue deceptively, the people that it's directed against will usually see right through it, because they're emotionally inclined that way. It doesn't appear like a sensible opinion at all, it's just an attack because you hate them.

From an unbiased view point, you'll read that and most likely see a man that is simply concerned about what he sees happening around him. From an informed view point you'll clearly see dishonesty. From a biased view point you'll steer towards your biases and affirm all the things he says and confirm all your feelings about the subject (Obviously). For an Islamophobe this will make him feel that his fear of Islam is warranted, for a Muslim, this will make him feel that his beliefs in Islam are justified, that's how it made me feel, because you can see the lies or you'll look them up. You're informed already... It's just a guy spewing hateful nonsense and you feel that you have to affirm your loyalty and show everyone how this person is lying.

This kind of essay does no good at all...

What really bothers me also is that there are lots of actually good things that you can criticise about Islam. Seriously, you could go on a tirade about how the Quran tells men to beat their wives, you could criticise whippings and stonings and death penalties, you could criticise the concept of hijab in various ways. I read a very interesting essay recently about how Muhammed could have suffered from a variety of OCDs (Obsessive Compulsive Disorders), which would explain the complex rituals of prayer and ritual cleanliness, but no.... these things aren't emotional enough to be political. To get attention you'll want to make Islam into this vortex of misogyny and darkness to scare people into thinking that you're informing them of some dark heinousness that they can't see, you'll want to give them nightmares about something and control them with those dreams. The power of nightmares is indeed formidable. In fact, it's the concurrent political meme and does nicely in boosting media ratings, so they do that.

But it just makes one side hate the other side and bridges a further gap than our differing cultures already created. Instead of inspiring debate and discussion, it destroys it and panics everyone, making them turn to their bronze age books to explain everything and it does explain everything... badly. Thus we have our world.

And I'm done ranting....
