13 Dead and 30 wounded

arg-fallbackName="RestrictedAccess"/>
Ft. Hood in Texas, one of the biggest Army posts in the U.S., was shot up at 13:30 hours. Initially 12 were dead and 31 wounded, but one of the wounded recently passed. The bastard that did most of the shooting (Mjr. Malik Nadal Hasan) was shot an killed. Two suspects have been taken into custody. The confirmed shooter was a 30 something military psychiatrist. He walked into a check-in station with 2 handguns and started shooting.

We're all still waiting to know 'why'. Some are saying he was opposed to his upcoming deployment. I imagine those outside the states wouldn't really be inclined to care, but it's a low blow to those of us with friends and family who were stationed in Ft. Hood at them time. Most of us in central Texas are..well..shocked and devastated.

I feel it neccessary to point out that the shooter in fact survived the incident and is currently in custody.

Yeah, I didn't update the thread when I found that out. He did survive the shooting, but since the shooting happened on a military base in Texas of all states, there's a good chance that the next shot he'll take will be administered with a syringe - and there's no chance he'll survive that.

Then again, I'm not sure if he's awake yet. He might not pull through.

He's military, thus, he will undergo a military tribunal and hearing, same rules such as the death penalty do not necessarily apply in this case.

Perhaps, but in this case, the punishment may possibly be the same. The military has been imposing the death penalty since 1917, I believe. Over a hundred servicemen have been given the death penalty by the military.

I think murdering 13 people in cold blood, and possibly fraternizing with the enemy gives him an ample chance of landing a spot on death row.

Indeed.
