Ross is pulling it out of his ass, but from which part I don't know since speciation has been observed in larger organisms with longer generation times than that. An excerpt from my personal list of directly observed instances of speciation...
Since there's no thread on this forum thus far to discuss the notion of aquatic apes I thought I'd start one. That and I got so sick of hearing Hardy, Morgan, and Kuliukas lies and misrepresentation so I made a couple of videos about it. Needless to say my opinion of the model is in the thread...
Re: Radical New Theory of Origin, Evolution and Nature of Li
Bullshit, bullshit and more bullshit! All this is is yet another repackaging of the Gaia (philosophical) "hypothesis" with a hint of "Intelligent" Design. Andrulis's nonsense is as much a blight on Case Western Reserve University as...
Dendochronology
The use of dendrochronolgy or tree ring dating can be used on what is perhaps the oldest clonal plant specimen Pando(Populus tremuloides) in the southwestern United States. Ring dating indicates that each individual tree is about one hundred and thirty years old but all...
Last semester I wrote an essay reviewing the sexual strategies of great apes for a class and felt iffy about the final product. Since there are some biologists on this form and most people here seem to have an interest in the topic I thought I'd post it for some feedback, comments and criticism...
Point of clarification humans have evolved towards a form of reproduction kinda towards monogamy (a better term would be pair bonded) but mostly against female infidelity. This has more to do with reducing sperm competition and mate pair bonding than it does with child rearing (it really doesn't...
I stumbled across this guy, stevebee's, stuff a while ago but went through some of his video's the other day and...WOW! For someone who claims to be a dentist, engineer, and 'reformed evilusionist' I don't think I've ever seen such a misunderstanding of so much on some many topics cramped into...
People? Really? I'd have thought there were really some mystical force called religion making people go around killing each other. In all seriousness congratulations on making a basic observation on how nearly every single human problem originates. Want a cookie?
You did ready my whole post...
Agreed, however are you serious when you say something as blatantly stupid as this...
I mean you are aware that barbaric acts like that committed by religious people because of their beliefs and intolerance all the time!
For example you've got Catholic and Protestant Christians still...
Really, I'd argue just the opposite. Other apes ovulate, like we do and have a variety of reproductive strategies. Since ape females can get pregnant at any season of the year and have the intelligence to determine when would be most advantageous that presents two selective advantages...
Hmm, I wonder why they used the term "new" considering this phylogram is essentially the same that other authors have constructed over the years for about a decade or two from other aspects of the biological science. Oh well, more media sensationalism. Cool stuff though.
Re: Debate Discussion Thread for: "Evidence supports creatio
Just an observation given other debates, but why is it that no creationists, it seems, can use the damn quote feature?
Re: Debate Discussion Thread for: "Evidence supports creatio
I'm pretty sure Thunderf00t was joking considering the context. On a more pressing note this is really slow. When are the participants going to stop using poetry to describe life and the Bible and get to the actual science...
Re: Debate Discussion Thread for: "Evidence supports creatio
That or all evidence presented that is supposed to go against evolution will actually support it.
"Look at the pattern of these ERVs they are evidence of a common designer not ancestor..."
"Check out this 'fishapod' evolution...
Maybe if you had a lot of fast twitch muscles you might be able to move that fast. I know that snapping shrimp can snap their claws so fast it produces a fish killing shock wave and happens to fast that human eyes can't even see it happen. Mongooses can also dodge cobra strikes so quick that...
