I love Brian Cox and I love science. What more can I want? I got it for Christmas and am nearly through the first DVD, shame I can't get my time for myself with all those siblings around.

If you like Brian Cox, or if you don't you'll probably find this amusing:

Im kind of on the fence with Brians style. He has done some great stuff (horizons star on earth) but i really didnt find much in his wonders series that engaged me.
When i saw he was going to do a celebrity audience lecture i had very low expectations.
I have to say, even though i cant abide the whole celeb culture thing, this was actually a very good attempt at giving the layperson an understanding of how to think about quantum mechanics.

What really annoys me about Brian is his mysticism crap. He's all "aurora borealis, so awesome" but then ruins it by saying "I thought it'd be more awesome knowing that it's charged particles interacting with the earth's magnetic field, but it's actually more like spirits rising" which made me all "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU what the hell dude, science!!! Not your crappy mysticism."

So yeah, still an awesome dude but not AS awesome.

to be fair, you have to consider who he is trying to communicate with. If you want to take science to the masses then you have to make appeals to emotions.
Carl Sagans poetic style really grinded on me..but hey it was very effective so i can live with that
