Firstly I think experience is the most important way to learn.
First hand experience is the most valuable, that is things you experience yourself.

Literature as it is. Is wrote by another and is influenced by their own experiences. As such this is second hand experience. Which I believe to be the second most valuable way of learning.

Here are a few books I have read and that I am yet to read which I think you should try to get hold of if you can!

On The Road - Jack Kerouac
The Dharma Bums - Jack Kerouac
Of Mice and Men - John Steinbeck
The White Rabbit - Bruce Marshall
The Will To Power - Friedrich Nietzsche
La Nausee - Jean-Paul Sartre
Junky - William S. Burroughs
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest - Ken Kesey
The Rum Diary - Hunter S. Thompson
Crime and Punishment - Dostoevsky
Lord Of The Flies - William Golding
Zen and The Art Of Motor-Cycle Maintenance - Robert. M Pirsig

These are just a few which you should probably read.

Remember what you read and when you read it is very important, you are not just simply throwing in knowledge for the sake of knowledge. You must be clever, scientific almost about it like when you prepare a meal. A good chef does not just throw in any ingredients at any time and make a delicious meal.
