What do you say to this?

I really am fed up of the whole 9/11 truth debate thing, but there was one thing I could never answer, because I am so ignorant of modern history. Whenever you mention the fact that the alternative conspiracy theory would involve 1000s of people, and there's no way they can keep that a secret because even secrets involving a very small number of people have got out, the question I always get is "ah, but what about the Manhattan project?"

Is there a good counter-argument to this?

Yeah, that's an easy one. Soviet spies infiltrated the Manhattan Project. David Greenglass and other members of the project leaked information to the Soviets, and Greenglass served 10 years in jail for espionage.

Possibly by pointing out that the Manhattan project is not the same as the US government orchestrating 9/11?

It has nothing to do with it, so its basically irrelevant, even if conspiracies involving 1000s have occurred, it doesn't mean 9/11 was an inside job - that's retard logic...

but it is used a counter to the argument that a conspiracy involving 1000s of people is bound to come out.

We gave you the answer: the Manhattan Project "came out" while it was happening, in real time. 10 years later, and ZERO 9/11 conspirators have ever been shown to exist.

My point was to say even if the Manhattan project had been kept secret and involved 1000s of people it does not follow therefore that the government did 9/11... So the argument is bullshit.
