What came of the fun-filled Skype call

So, we had the Skype call and it was the most fun thing I've done all week and was not at all awkward. Oh no. :p (Mainly my fault, tbh, as I didn't get it started very smoothly.)

The following was decided upon (in a sort of non-committal way, but still):

-The first show should be around Christmas time and probably be christmas-themed.

-There should be a private subforum set up for people involved with the organising of the show for working out some kind of "script" and technical details. Obviously, all discussion, criticism and topic ideas (which should actually be listened to this time around) would be open to the public.

-The topics should probably be in the form of a question. (ideas for topics included something christmassy, 9/11 truthism, libertarianism, furries, aliens and "what do alien furries do at Christmas")

-We could get famous people to give their views on said question in order to drive the conversation.

-45 minutes is probably long enough. 10 minutes of intro, maybe a small feature, the main topic for most of the show, then outros, including:

-Prolescum's poetry corner.

-Joe is secretly a libertarian.

-We should produce some kind of "show notes" via Google Docs to be released with each show in order to let listeners have a look at sources and possibly other information.

-We need to get the word out somehow in advance, perhaps by asking the big-name channels for a promotion of some kind. On that note, I'm going to continue to badger AW and others who might be able to grant it for access to the LeagueOfReasonTV channel.

-Heavy editing is probably necessary :p . Dead air=not good to listen to D:

Also, not having a working mic is very fucking annoying. But yeah, the points we have are a nice base to work from.

Hmmm,

Christmas, 9/11 truthism, and libertarianism? These are three big topics, are you sure you're going to be able to cover each in sufficient detail over the course of one show? Seems like they could easily be split into three.

I don't mind dusting off my Grinch hat and going anti-Christmas if you want but let me know in advance so I can get a decent mic.

Uh, yeah, they would each have their own shows.

Interesting thing concerning Christmas,

Seeing as how my country has one of the other myths upon which the modern-day version of Santa Clause is based (called Sinterklaas) I grew up never ever celebrating Christmas with presents under a tree (we had a different day where Sinterklaas brought us presents, so fear not.)
Nowadays it is a lot more common for Dutch families to celebrate Christmas with presents and forego on the other holiday, but when I grew up Christmas was always about going to Church, singing seasonal hymns and stuff and performing Jesus-themed plays and whatnot. The whole business about secularists trying to steal away Christmas from the Christians (or whatever :p) never enters into it because our holidays don't really conflict.

My mic has never worked also, Nash. :;}

PS: I could probably fudge up a poetry corner too...

I could probably compose a dirty limerick very quickly, at least I hope!

it's way more fun to do that, after all. But watching for one after-the-fact might be entertaining, too.

We're not getting it. :(

Give it time. I don't think Sporky's been on in a few days. But I've made a thread in the secret moderators' lair that he'll see eventually.

If we all just start calling it The Mod Cave now, it'll catch on, and that's a good thing.

I asked Andromedas, he said no.

AW hasn't been on the forums in a long time and probably doesn't want to do anything major like creating a new subforum in case it turns out to be a bad idea.

On a related note:

Many, many thanks to AndromedasWake are in order. He has given me access to the LeagueOfReasonTV channel on YouTube and the leagueofreason channel on BlogTV.

The details of these channels will, for obvious reasons, be made available only to a small number of people directly involved in the behind-the-scenes organisation of the show. But we will be able to use them for promotional videos to garner interest, publishing the show via YouTube and broadcasting via blogTV ahead of YouTube release as an actual event drawing people from the YouTube community together whilst also allowing live interaction and criticism.

Eh? Do we need an alternative collaboration venue?

?
What do you mean? What are you responding to?

I guess he's referring to a super-secret sub-forum only accessible to us. To which I have to respond: WHERE YOU THERE ON SUNDAY OR WHAT??? :D

Sorry, I got the impression the sub-forum was a no-go, so thought I'd get some confirmation :)

I have a couple of things prepared, but I don't want to post them in the public forums for obvious reasons.

If we don't get the sub-forum, I'll quickly whip something up outside of here.
