Listening to a lot of different stuff since i just recently got some CDs

First up, Streetlight Manifesto. Their new album came out on tuesday, if you like it, either order it from their website, or steal it, do not buy it from a store or itunes because the label is screwing the band over.

Second is Toh Kay, their new album (to be released at the same time as the album above) was canceled due to said label (honestly please don't buy anything by victory records) however the album did get leaked so you could find it online if you were so inclined

and finally i just got my download code for the digital version of the Skullgirls OST, great fighting game with wonderful music, if you like fighting games check it out, it will be coming to steam probably this summer, but if nothing else the music is amazing.

Apologetix a Christian band that parodies secular songs and turns them into Christian songs they parody old rocknroll.classic rock, country, rap, pop music, etc.I think the lead singer does a great job of mimicking all the different lead singers of the songs they parody.

Here are some of my favorites

Monkeys for uncles.

Not to be nit-picky, but they aren't parodies by any definition I'm familiar with; they're simply plagiarised and reworded for the purpose of proselytising.

Which I believe is a civil offense... (IANAL)

This week, I have been mostly listening to Tusk.

Interestingly, someone on YouTube is being sued for copyright infringement:

YouTube star Michelle Phan sued over copyright

Kindest regards,

James

Thanks, James ;)

Well, the company likely owns the copyright to the recording she used, not the artist. It's a standard part of that type of contract so whether or not the artist agrees to her usage, the company would be within its rights (however much it sucks) to sue her; she does monetise her videos after all. I suspect in this case, they'll settle fairly quickly once the facts are established.

Pirates!

They are parodies but also the lead singer has a talent with rewriting the lyrics to fit the song and in a similar way to the original song.It is a talent in itself.Like in
Don't fear the people" a Parody of Don't fear the reaper if you listen to both songs because the lyrics are kindof garbled in the original the new lyrics fit, even in the middle part.

Or like in the song People a parody of pepper

No sir, they are not. I realise English may not be your first language, so your misunderstanding up to this point is forgivable. The intent of Apologetix is not to lampoon, as is the nature of parody, but to spread their message. The word you might be looking for is pastiche.
