Volume Leveling

Just wanted to point out a quick tip that can easily increase the quality of a video that combines multiple audio sources. Quite often, I encounter videos where I have to actively monitor the volume because of the large swings between sources. One type of video where I see this frequently are response videos where commentary is spliced between video segments.

Fixing this problem is rather easy. Simply find the volume control for an audio segment and adjust it appropriately. In Windows Movie Maker, the volume control can be accessed by right clicking on an audio or video clip.

A consistent volume throughout your video will let your viewers relax and enjoy your production.
