This has probably been discussed here before but now that Wakefield is still defending his claim, it might be interesting to bring it up again. The president of the National Autism Association, Wendy Fournier, still defends Wakefield's claim. She uses the same arguments as you all have heard before claiming that pharmaceutical companies are only interested in money, you can't question vaccines because the "system" will get you, more research needs to be done. She also claims to know Wakefield personally and that she could not believe that he would do something like this.
Now my questions are how can an organisation like the National Autism Association exist and not have a doctor who is specifically an expert in autism who knows enough of the scientific method to know that the paper was fraudulent and set the record straight for this association and is it also not a conflict of interest when the president of such an organisation is friends with the person who is being tried for performing invasive unnecessary medical tests on children and manipulating data like this? Wouldn't it be better if this interview was done by a doctor who is an expert on autism and a member of the association? What do you all think?
