No, no, no. This thread was a knee-jerk reaction from being cranky and up late and I should have bothered to find predetermined reasons why administrators would have moved it (of which plenty exist).

I apologise.

Obviously you have trouble reading the many posts that explained why the move was necessary. They have been up on the old site for a week, and they are at the very top of the page on this site.

This is exactly the sort of irrational resistance to change that many of us are fighting against every day. Be reasonable, you will only be uncomfortable for a few days getting used to the new system and waiting for people to populate new threads. In return we all get a more flexible system that will allow for needed changes, chat improvements, and who knows what else.

Ultimately, our gracious hosts are doing us a huge favor and we should allow them to decide what is best for the future of this site.

As a former programmer, I know what a gigantic pain it can be to deal with restrictive hosts - trust me, they did the right thing. This site will be MUCH better for it, and we are lucky they made this hard move. Thanks to the staff!

My account activation got sent to my spam mail, just to eliminate some confusion, look in your spam mail for reactivating your account.

I don't really care if this site got moved, but I did not expect the forums to move so quickly.We need the move with less confusion, making the obvious move obvious, or make the announcement a day before it will be moved or keep the forums unarchived for a day so we can resolve some problems transferring.

I apologise if I come off as a bit defensive, I have spent a great deal of what little spare time I get to help make this move as pain free as possible. If you haven't read it yet here is the Why did we move?!? thread.

If we could have put the archive somewhere else you wouldn't have had cause to make your post as I would have transferred the forum in its entirety and nobody would have been any the wiser. It is all explained in the link above.

I feel as though there was plenty of notice, for nearly a week we had a global announcement up on every forum on the old site, AndromedasWake sent out a mass email to everyone (admittedly the email servers on Forums-Free.com were not particularly reliable so I doubt everyone got one, I know I didn't).

We were going to leave it a little longer but considering the dreadful running of the servers that the forums were on, the sooner we moved the better, and it had to coincide with when I was able to sit here for nearly 5 hours runnings scripts and checking the user data was being scraped and transferred properly.

I do agree that it isn't obvious that the archive forum is read only, and we will endeavour to make it so. Unfortunately, the old forum doesn't have an announcement feature (the big box at the top on the homepage) like this one as I had to modify the forum for that, which I am unable to do on the old one so we are limited to just how obvious we can make it that it's read only.

I hope this alleviates any concerns.
