UK Visit

I woke with a migraine this morning, and finally managed to pull myself out of bed at midday.

I am not sure I am yet awake or even compos mentis.

Did Trump's visit to the UK really start with him attacking the integrity of the UK by supporting a political crisis, threatening no trade deal with the US unless we Brexit under his conditions, undermine the democratic process by trolling the Prime Minister and attacking the Mayor of London?

It's time for the EU and other nations to wake up to the danger this fool represents. Forget Putin; there are structures in place to address the kinds of danger he represents. But having a key ally bullying and haranguing other sovereign nations is not remotely acceptable. Spines need to be grown.

I haven't been following it closely, so I only know snippets.

From what I can gather, Trump said something about what May is doing re Brexit and remarked that what she's doing isn't what the people voted for. Which, as far as I can tell, is an accurate statement.

I'm sure others are more than capable of beating me to it, but if not then I'll look into it more closely this evening (something I intended to do anyway) and perhaps be able to produce a more detailed post.

Some of the bits you might have missed:

He said Boris Johnson would make a great Prime Minister, and that he's 'got what it takes'.

He said Sadiq Khan has done a terrible job when it comes to terrorism.

He said that the current Brexit proposal would make it unlikely that the UK and US could have a trade deal.

On Brexit he said, "I would have done it much differently. I actually told Theresa May how to do it but she didn’t agree, she didn’t listen to me. She wanted to go a different route."

Ta much. I'll check it out later. I haven't been following the news much lately because talk of football players somehow being 'heroes' pisses me off no end.

Waking up to these things post migraine made me wonder if I'd actually woken up.

But of course, it's the Brave New World we inhabit.

At least you have the luxury of living among people that didn't vote for him. The area I live in 89% of votes went to him. It's scary the group think that goes on with these people. And it's completely based on ignorance and hate. It's a sad thing when you can't look the people around you in the eye anymore because they are openly and proudly bigoted and racist. The US deserves every bad thing headed our way.
