Tobias Bratt's Europa - The last battle

Hi all,

I was wondering whether perhaps people have seen the above mentioned 10 part documentary.

Europa - The last battle by Tobias Bratt

It's apparently about an epic new view of history. And some seem to have swallowed it hole, but are left frustrated and angry by it. A quick search leaves me with nothing but a notion of "red flags" really. I hesitate it's worth my time.

Therefore, is any of you familiar with it? How is it accurate, revisionist or is it even down right anti-semitic, counterfactual?

Thanks in advance.

Gday mate (Spearthrower here)...

From what I can tell, its just ethnocentric fascism restated under a very thin veneer of academic legitimacy.

It comprises historical revisionism seemingly intent on repainting the Nazis as people who simply had no choice - even after trying so hard to be peaceful and neighborly - but to go to war and kill lots of Jews to protect themselves from the evil intent of homogenizing liberal Jews.

It paints all rejection of its own narrative as being the effects of all-pervasive cultural Marxism mind-controlling the masses.

So it's basically Just Another Alt-Right Screed, and unsurprisingly, Google searches only turn up mentions of it in crackpot sites and Stormfront (tautological, I realize). So basically, it will have no impact as the only people who will be interested are already deranged, rabid, hateful lunatics.

Hi there Spearthrower! ;)

I recognized you the moment you arrived in this place who you were. Back in the day, at rationalskepticism, I considered you my closest ally as far as drifts of thought go, and it was a big loss to see you depart. Imagine the joy I felt seeing you turn up here all of a sudden. And just like then I always read your contributions here with great interest. Cheers mate!

So about the documentary, it's complete shit. That's actually worse than I'd imagined. I found a blog by someone who has started a fact check of every claim made in it. And even though it's only two parts done it's still around 75% accurate. Taken that as fact it's a bit surprising!

Anyhoo, thanks for the input. I'm not going to bother with it I guess. I rather read Mein Kampf one day.

Cheers!

While I often find (rational) viewpoints that differ from mine to be the most interesting, I did notice how frequently you'd write something that I could have written. In fact, I seem to remember mistaking one of your posts for mine at one point!

Twas a shame about ratskep, but I do at least practice what I preach. Back when there were endless whinge posts in the feedback forum, I used to say 'if you cannot bear this place anymore, just leave' - and it got to the point for me that I could no longer tolerate their tolerance for career trolls. Rather than whine about it, better to leave: vote with your feet! ;)

That's fairly normal, I'd say. To build a compelling lie, you have to harness some truth to make it convincing - then twist it to perversion.

Aye, at least that's honest, transparent hatred.

Nice, I'll have a read.

I actually had a conversation about a month ago with someone who was suggesting that homosexuals represent some kind of threat to society? To be fair to them, I don't recall much of the actual conversation, just that they think I don't know much about sociality and suggested I read Mein Kampf and then something else by so?eone named Roosh.

Don't get me wrong though, I too find differing viewpoints the most interesting, as long as they're presented well and rationally. Something of a rare occurrence, to be honest, but when it happens it's when my own views get challanged and refined, and learning is of course a great process.

The main reason I labeled you my closest ally is the huge difference in our command of the English language. I quickly run out of stamina finding the right words and constructing readable sentences in a continued back and forth, so I mostly choose to reside in a position of reading. It's nice then to have someone around putting forth viewpoints that so often allign with mine, but in a manner I'm unable to.

I still occasionally pop over to see what's going on. The place has descended over the years significantly, but seems to have stabilized to a small core of contributors, some of which have opinions worth paying attention to.

On closer inspection the twisting seems indeed to revolve around the evil Jew conspiracy. So there's that...yawn.

Not so fast!

I can't read German well enough so I've been looking around to buy a Dutch version and what do you know? I found one with a peculiar title. "Mein Kampf" was translated into "Mijn kamp" or "My Camp", and as it turns out it's a reference to Hitler being incarcerated after his coup (unjustly I'm sure). This particular version is written by a person named Steven Barends, a dutch national socialist in 1942-3.

So it's not entirely clear cut. Got to keep your eye's open at all times! :geek: [/quote]

Sir Spearthrower (cc: MindHack),

Being a history & WWII buff, & after scanning all the high praise from many reviewers, I naively downloaded the entire 3.5Gb "Europa - The Last Battle" from this link:

Not long into the first episode I realized that I had stumbled onto one of the most manicured and polished manure spreaders ever produced in the history of racist propaganda.

I couldn't finish the 1st episode & disgusted that I let myself get suckered into blowing a large chunk of my data budget on this tripe, I promptly deleted it and left a flaming review to warn others.

I was pretty proud of my overburdened write-up until I ran across your review above. Your initial, "its just ethnocentric fascism restated under a very thin veneer of academic legitimacy" is Lincolnesque, and covers the principal point with Spartan eloquence; the remainder of your review are fruits from that one sentence.

I found my way here because of my new obsession with the lineage of racism leading up to it's modern incarnation in Trumpism (i.e., QAnon). In my research, I began to recall similarities between the conspiracies of both QAnon & Europa (from what little of it I had watched).

So, I thank you (& MindHack) for your clarity & sane perspective.

I've just re-downloaded the entire 3.5Gb Europa series for detailed analysis & comparison, & hope to return here, if I may, in the near future to discuss the matter in more detail & seek your sage counsel.

Cheers to a open mind!
