To protest vote or not to protest vote

Its a little late now but the European elections in the UK recently, I was completely unsure of what to do with my vote. Usually I'd say labour without a question but with the way things such as expenses have been i couldn't vote for them, and obviously I'm not going to vote Tory.

Now the Lib Dems are to the extreme centre of politics so they don't move me one way or another - Vote contender?

I dont believe in that the green party actually have a lot to bring to the table other than high taxes on people that actually do need to use a lot of petrol for the jobs, so they were out of the question

UKIP, especially Nigel Farage, just seem to swagger on tv with a undeserved smugness and say "well we told you this government blah blah blah" and follow it up with some random statistics about europe

BNP - AHAHAHAHA no

ultimately I voted UKIP but should, for a protest vote, you not worry too much about what that vote is going towards because I don't particularly believe in total independence from Europe.
