Is it just me, or is the standard response from xtians when you look at their religion with reason ignore/attack/ban? It's pathetic. They'll say with a straight face hat other religions don't deserve equal respect, invoking appeal to the masses, making up BS about a 'christian nation', and crying that you're attacking their faith- while holding all other religions (including other brands of xtianity in contempt. I've noticed they also tend to congregate a conservative/republican forums, where their ignorance is shared by man- usually including uneducated mods

Anyone else notice this trend?

I cant really vote on this one. it might help to add something like, "It depends on the person."

I personally know a few fundies but the rest are somewhat unitarian Universalists. So, i've seen it before, but it's not 50% of the time. :)

I run into people like that from time to time. Oddly enough, though, I run into them more where I live than, say, in Missouri while I was there. These kind of people seem to congregate around the areas that are generally seen as rather 'liberal' in their religious views. I've so far only ran into one that was from the Bible belt of America.

Creationists are thick as theives in Philly, when you do find them.

Mind you, the most fun loony group out there is the "Hebrew Israelites". Once, a couple of years ago, I stood across the street from them with a megaphone, reading passages from "The Long Dark Teatime of the Soul", in that "southern baptist preacher" oratory style. I only got up to the bit where Ms. Schechter was arguing with the Pizza guy over whether or not they deliver before they walked across the street and started harassing me. Fortunately, it was Market St, and there were cops right there.

Seriously, fun times. I really enjoy fucking with the tragically self-deluded.

I come across it all the time on the internet, but people I meet in person are always either understanding or just don't care.
