The Nuclear Disarmament Game

arg-fallbackName="amorrow2"/>
By the way, the current input file looks like this:

USA
5550
Russia
6257
UK
225
France
290
China
350
India
160
Pakistan
165
North Korea
45
Isreal
90

The output file start with the USA and Russia doing a lot of the initial disarming, but eventually the other nations take their turns as well.

Again, the thing I like about my output plan file and source code is that it is like a mindless, heartless, soulless lottery machine. It is fair because it does not play favorites. Gee, I really wish I had thought of this years ago when George Schultz was still alive. If nothing else, he would know that somebody listened carefully to what he said.

arg-fallbackName="Sparhafoc"/>
My disarmament plan is linear and fair.

And completely devoid of any apprehension of reality.

Like I said - your 'idea' amounts to nothing more than saying 'nuclear armed nations should all agree to flip a coin then respect the results'. - it's clearly got no purchase on the preponderance of involved factors despite the act of flipping a coin obviously working absent the context.

arg-fallbackName="amorrow2"/>
I thought the the rules of the disarmament game with dice could be devised in such a restrictive way that the trajectory of the game would closely follow the list I am now creating. I have done away with the idea of using dice for this game and just printed out the list of rounds with no element of chance involved.

arg-fallbackName="Greg the Grouper"/>
The entire purpose of this is that nations distrust one another, and worry that they'll disarm while others retain their weapons.

In all likelihood, even if everyone did agree to this game, they would in all likelihood use this game as a way to potentially disarm other nations while retaining their own.

If every nation did genuinely come to the conclusion that this was a good idea, then the game would literally no longer even be necessary: we've thus established that all nations wish to disarm in good faith, and as such there is no longer a need to gamify that process.

That is what George Schultz emphasized in his Stanford talk that I attended.
Your witterings are considerably more Charles M. Schultz than George Schultz.

There is no point to disarming anyways, since nukes are relativly easily manufactured as long as you got the data for the explosion lens.
An average engineer can whip up a nuke in a matter of days, if he has the formula for the lens and the material avaible ... and well, isnt scared of irradiating himself.
Could also just load up an ICBM with nuclear waste in a matter of hours, for terrifying results.

Sides, lets assume everyone got rid of their nukes and adhered to a treaty banning them ... great, now we brought conventional warfare back and the US is gonna start drone bombing Russia or China. Yay us.

We are moving towards perpetual or sustainable war anyways, that might get us there sooner.

Having the material available would be included in any disarmament treaty for the reason that it's what takes time to achieve.

I still think it is better to have a detailed plan rather than no plan.

arg-fallbackName="amorrow2"/>
It is a linear plan. The nuclear nations can go short or far down this pathway. Even if they only got rid of 100 nukes before some nation balked, that would be progress.

arg-fallbackName="Sparhafoc"/>
Here is what some of the output file would look like:

I'm sorry, but I think you need to realize how empty of sense your posts are.

All you've done is just minus a nuke from a nation.... as if the mere idea of a nation being able to reduce its nukes is all you need to show with your supposed 'plan'.

There's no meat to it at all, you are once again engaging in wilful fantasy - which is fine - but you keep mistaking it as serious ideas that hold some kind of solution.

It doesn't even amount to nonsense.

No nation's going to join in this juvenile farce, for fuck's sakes. So no, there'll be no progress because it's fantasy.

arg-fallbackName="amorrow2"/>
I abandoned the "game" aspect and the dice/coinflip aspect last week. The plan is just a static sequence.

arg-fallbackName="amorrow2"/>
I dunno. If you confront all the nuclear nations with the current plan, maybe they would ask for changes and maybe those changes could be made. Stay flexible.

Yes, and what it amounts to is the absolutely devious notion that to reduce the number of nukes nations possess, nations need to reduce the number of nukes they possess.

Meanwhile, I've just solved world hunger with the cunning plan of giving everyone food. I realize the plan is incomplete yet as I haven't found a way to incorporate hopscotch in it, but it's a start.

Peace in the Middle East?

That's a snap!

My plan involves having both parties stop fighting. Later, we'll work out whether tiddlywinks or marbles will be the most appropriate venue in which they stop fighting, but we can hone the details later.

Climate change?

Easy.

My plan is that everyone stops emitting harmful gases. I'll make a wheel-spinner to decide who goes first.

Cancer?

Got you!

My plan is to find a cure for cancer, then cure all the people who have cancer.... while playing the banjo. I haven't yet learned to play the banjo, but I think it's for a good cause, so I will get started right away.

I never realized solving seemingly intractable problems could be so easy! All you need to do is write down some words in a sentence that says you solved the problem, and there you go - problem solved!
