Steam is a platform for digitally distributing games. You install the client, then buy games online and download them. A game is then registered to your account, so you can download it on any computer you like any time (rather than installing from a DVD).

I used to hate it, because you had to validate all your games online and sometimes the process failed locking your game out (I've been a member since 2004) but in recent years it's improved a lot and I recommend it to everyone. It lets you load the community in-game (ie. chat with people in your friend's list or join their games).

It's owned and operated by Valve, and they frequently do weekend deals. Last weekend, the Orange Box (which has HL2, TF2 and Portal) was going for 10 bucks (!)

Try it, it rocks.

Since the Survival Pack came out, is Left 4 Dead worth paying for yet?

Edit: Ew, AndromedasWake, you like CS:S? Yuck city.

Was it not worth paying for then? It's a great game, quite addictive too. I haven't played it in a while though, because I had course work to do. But I'm not much of a gamer, I don't keep in touch with gaming news, it was your message how I learned about the Survivor Pack update (downloading now) :p

Well, I bought it, but I was hesitant because of it being like fifty or more dollars without the patch... For PC... Anyone else play it? Add me!

I pre-ordered Left 4 Dead "Game of the Year" with the expansion included... so who is volunteering to show me around and keep me from getting my ass blown off while I get familiar with the online gaming?

I bought the steam package yesterday online, included Left 4 Dead. Played it some yesterday and it's friggin great!

I joined the steam group if anyone want's to play with me, just give me a bump on the noggin', my username is TC.Kuno, you'll find me in the group's list. :)

I thought I may find a covey of gamers in this forum.

My brethren.

I have been a clan leader of a gaming community for about 5 years. We have several game servers running on our box including a L4D server I recently put up. It is running the Unrest mod which makes it 8 vs 8. Addicting fun.

Our Steam group is The Dawgg Pownd ....if you join it will show our server when you log into the game for ease of joining. Just an invite, not to take away from LoR

Joined! A little late to this thread, but I'd love to play some L4D (or whatever, but L4D is my game right now) with fellow Reason-ites.

My ID switches between "You", "Mindy Anna Jones", and the current one, "Player Slot Available".

Hit me up!

Howdy, I only registered today. Great to see there are plenty of fellow game heads here in abundance.
Would it be O.K if i stated an Aussie clan of LoR?

So, what are you waiting for?
My real life is quite connected to my gaming life. I don't really want to piss off some of my real life and gaming life friends by associating with you satan worshippers (/s)... No but really, it's a social thing, declaring myself an atheist would have severe social consequences, so for now I shall quietly answer "oh I'm not religious". Linking my gaming life too closely with LoR would link my real life closely with LoR, and would effectively result in me declaring myself an atheist, something that is not a wise move for me.

I think this is probably a bad plan, because we are small enough as it is.
