Shamelessly Self-Promoting my Recording

This morning I tried out my new recording equipment and jammed a little on my acoustic guitar. The mic isn't suited at all for recording acoustic stuff, but this was just a test. Just wanted to see if it works. First try, haven't had breakfast, didn't tweak the settings. etc. Nonetheless, I'm curious what people think so I thought I'd upload it anyway. I'm probably gonna delete it as soon as I get things figured out and make a proper recording.

It sounds good to someone who doesn't know the ins and outs of music recording like myself. There's no echoing off the walls or anything that might make it sound amateur.

Unfortunately I don't know the ins and outs of recording myself. I've been playing for a long time, but as far as the technical aspects of recording are concerned I'm a total noob. This one was quite easy. I recorded some stuff from my electric guitar with Cubase though and that was such a hassle. Took me forever to figure everything out and the end result was just meh. Sounds great to an outsider, but if you know how great my amp can sound (cost me 1780€) it is quite disappointing.

I've just uploaded my first electric guitar recording with video. Sound quality is much better, as expected, but still doesn't really compare to the orgasmic sound that I get out of my amp. I guess that's as much as you get out of a 100€ Mic.

Nice :)

Here's a blog by Colin Davis about recording at home. He hasn't posted in a while but I think there's still plenty of information there.
