Roe v Wade

This view is compatible with accelerationism, and it's becoming increasingly popular. What do you mean by "quantify" pain and suffering? How does one do that?
Whose view? Mine or Borgs?

By quantify I mean "measure". Measure the total of my pain and suffering, compare it with yours and tell me whose is greater. It's cant really be done. So I am skeptical when someone tells me about an idea or a social policy that they claim will alieveate pain and suffering in the world.

What people seem to forget is that the world is not black and white. You will always have grey areas where you think a is good and b not. What i see in the US is that time is slowly be turned back look at education its worse then it was 10 to 15 years back. You’ll need smart people to progress as society if you do not progress you lose the power to advance.

Advancement at what cost? Why do you think we need to kill our zygotes in order to advance?

I think atheists tend to view humans as plague apon the Earth and that we need to install certain legal parameters to control our population for some reason. You made a great point pertaining to the logistics involved in resource distribution and that they are often overlooked. Are you sure there arent any consequences in your support of the killing of our zygotes which you might have overlooked?

Well, we sort of are. Pretty much all we've done for the last thousand or so years is fuck the place up. But this isn't really an atheist/theist issue. Yeah, there's probably a higher percentage of pro-choicers among atheists than there is among theists, but it's a bit tangential to get into that.

I would say we have been fucking it up for more than 1000 years.

But this isn't really an atheist/theist issue.

Well the 2 most important things in the world today are; affirming peoples sexual behavior and controlling the climate. We are constantly being bombarded with these 2 weird secular ideas. Even now in elementary schools.

Imagine if instead we taught people not to murder and cheat each other. Imagine if we instilled the idea in our society that it is actually wrong to kill innocent human life.

Perhaps so, the number isn't that important, I just meant a long time.

I don't know why those would be exclusively secular ideas. Are there no theocrats who want to "control the climate" (whatever that even means)

Imagine if instead we taught people not to murder and cheat each other. Imagine if we instilled the idea in our society that it is actually wrong to kill innocent human life.

Have you only just recently visited Earth from some other planet? Broadly speaking, people are taught not to murder, if not explicitly then certainly implicitly. You strawmanning the discussion will get you nowhere, I'll call you out on it. Every. Single. Time.

Because secularists are constantly claiming we are on the verge of some worldwide, enviromental calamity. I think the reason why they do this is because it gives them more political power. Are you unaware that they do this?

Am I unaware that secularists constantly do this? Yes, I'm unaware of that. Mostly because it isn't true. I'm fine with giving you a charitable interpretation, I know you didn't mean it literally, but that just raises the question of who, which secularists, and to what frequency are "they" doing this?

If all you mean is it's a fairly hot topic, fine, yeah it is. I just don't want the thread to get derailed into something about climate change or whatever.

Maybe these are the "they"

I don't know if these are the two most important things in the world right now. However, I don't see the harm in the first, as in what ever happened to love your neighbour. As for the second, mitigating climate change, not climate control, has a direct effect on every person on the planet.

:D One guy even super glued himself to a Starbucks counter so he can preach to the world about how drinking soymilk is a virtue.

How about this; Give us an example of any sort of media platform where this is not true and I'll retract my statement.

Soymilk did you know that growing the plant you can only harvest it for one purpose its either used for making for example milk or soy meat. But it cant do both its one purpose plant. The waste what cant be used by humans, cows can eat it and they are food in two ways milk and meat, but they are even more resources. If everyone would go vegan you need so much plants its insane, but you’ll need cows because they give a medication for babies.

FAQs about a post-Roe U.S.

The Religious Right is the only organized opposition to abortion care in the United States. For decades, it has passed harmful legislation. These include laws and amendments that allow physicians to refuse to perform an abortion on religious grounds, deny federal funding to low-income women, those on the Indian Health Service Plan, Peace Corps volunteers, and women in federal prisons and the military, and prohibit U.S. funding to any foreign nongovernmental organization that so much as mentions “abortion.” All of these restrictions have been done in the name of religion and have left millions of women without crucial abortion services, information, counseling and care.

Yes. It is crucial for atheists to abort unborn babies. If you don't let them do it they will pretended you are harming people.

Abortion needs to be legal. There is no need to bring more unwanted kids into the world. The republicans want us to have a stroke over a clump of cells and be happy when babies are thrown into dumpsters, born to drug addicts, born into financially unstable homes, born to single mothers who can't handle themselves let alone a kid, and be happy when unwanted kids suffer in every way do. Lets not care about kids in foster care or up for adoption. Lets not care about the kids who suffer all the abuse and never recover from it. As someone who suffered A LOT from my parents, I can honestly say, I should have been aborted or given up for adoption. I haven't recovered from all the abuse, and with how long its been since it happened, I know I never will. Its not even emotional damage only. When those pieces of shit died everything was left to me. My aunts and uncles stole everything I had and that was left to me and what they didn't steal was robbed by the local crack heads. 2 houses, land, a big ass garage, a barn, cars, an at home library full of books, antiques, etc. I was tossed around a couple times. I can't recall ever living anywhere stable or for longer than 2 or 3 years at a time. I was homeless at 16. Been homeless more than once. I have woke up at 12 am in a puddle of rain on a 39F night. I have dealt with a lot of shit. I can trace the blame back to my parents and relatives. Now, because of the brainless republicans we have destroying our country, more will suffer a similar fate that I have, unless we undo the damage they have done. It isn't just me who has suffered. My sister has suffered, at the hands of my dad, her dad, our mom, and countless others both relatives and non-relatives. The stories of parents sexually abusing their kids or selling their kids bodies to others to sexually abuse are real. They do happen. Many bad things happen to kids. Shouldn't we be trying to make adoption easier, improving the conditions of foster homes, and doing things to help kids who are here and alive? Banning abortion will not make people who want kids have more kids. All it will do is make those who don't want kids, or can't raise them, or will abuse them, have them.

Frack. :-(

It is utterly horrific to see what the fascists have done and are doing to the United States of America: they have made it the Fractures States of America by using The Southern Strategy. There is a reason why the fascist political party were advised to carer to "the low-information voter."

Roe was a life-saver, as well as liberated many tens of millions of families to plan parenting if they wished to be parents.

I pray for the girls and women in the USA.

Why? "killing unborn BABIES" isn't what early term abortions are, and this thread is about abortions. It's not about "murdering children for no reason" or "savagely stabbing innocent beings" or any other such crap the pro-life brigade usually like to spin it as. If you want to start a thread about "Smashing kiddies skulls in with a baseball bat" or anything similar, you can do that, but this one is about abortion.

You are attempting to reason with someone who emotes instead of cognates. People who have renounced the use of reason cannot be swayed by reason; nor by facts; nor by evidence; nor by compassion and empathy. It takes all of 20 minutes to learn babies are not aborted.
