I listen to a lot of music that has to do with religious themes. Not that I care, they're all good fantasy after all.

Orphaned Land (My favorite Jew Metal (i.e. Prog Metal).
Stryper, no doubt you may have heard of their Metalness. (I have a beef with Christian music in general, but these guys are halfway decent at music making).
Blind Willie Johnson, Bluesman, he's a Gospel Bluesman I would guess, I likes him.
Argent has their Jesusyness.
Amaseffer is also another Jew Metal band (Yes, Prog Metal). They're doing their trilogy on the Exodus story, it's good stuff.
Robert Johnson is also rather religiousy. But yeah...
Also, the plethora of Requiem Masses written, by both religious people, and the atheists that have written them. Of all the ones I've heard, all are fantastic.

Oh man don't even mention that song. Back when I went to church they would sing it every fucking sunday, and the guy that did the lead vocals had a "derr" voice.

Holy blood and Lament are two of my most listened religious bands these days. Lament reminds me vaguely of Cradle of Filth in From the Cradle to Enslave and Dimmu Borgir's sound in Death Cult Armageddon. Holy blood is more of a folkmetal, perhaps resembling Finntroll, Ensiferum and that sort of bands.

Thats a nicely exploited religious context. Since people associate (atheist/pagan/christian -as long as they were raised in a predominantly christian environment) certain pictures and emotions with words like Gabrial, Maria, Ave, ...
Add some passages where fans can shout-a-long + the mystery of latin language.
And the most convinced pagans at these concerts start to praise mother mary...

I sometimes listen to Bob Dylans three albums from his time as a born again christian. They're crap compared to the rest of his work, but at times I listen to them anyway. Slow Train Coming (1979) is actually decent, but then it just got worse until he abandoned the christian music and got back into the game with Infidels in 1983... which is a damn good album imo.

Oh, and when you're talking about christian music you just have to mention this instant classic!
