PopG genetic simulation program

Hello, :)
today I came across this small (and standalone) simulation program that I'd like to share with you.

There are two variations:
- one is a cross-plattform java-program which generates a (saveable) grafical plot as outcome. - see screenshot - It's last updated October 2013 (v. 4.01) and provides the source code as well.
- the other is WIN-only, has much more settings and generates plain data outputs. - see pdf-manual to get the picture - It's last updated December 2000 (v. 1.32).

Hope this can be of use to some of you ~ greets Vivre
[showmore=PopG - java - writes]This is a one-locus, two-allele genetic simulation program for use by students. It simulates multiple populations and allows you to see the effect of natural selection, mutation, migration, and genetic drift. It is freely downloadable. It is written in Java, and will run on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux systems if they have Java installed on them.

This program simulates the evolution of random-mating populations with two alleles, arbitrary fitnesses of the three genotypes, an arbitrary mutation rate, an arbitrary rate of migration between the replicate populations, and finite population size.

The programs simulate simultaneously evolving populations with you specifying the population size, the fitnesses of the three genotypes, the mutation rates in both directions (from A to a and from a to A), and the initial gene frequency. They also ask for a migration rate among all the populations, which will make their gene frequencies more similar to each other.[/showmore][showmore=screenshot - plot]

hint: a saved plot-image correlates to the customizable window size

[showmore=POPGENE - win - manual - writes]POPGENE is a ... package for the analysis of genetic variation among and within
natural populations using co-dominant and dominant markers and quantitative traits.
... Simple menus and dialog box selections enable you to perform complex analysis
and produce scientifically sound statistics, thereby assisting you to adequately
analyze population genetic structure using the target markers/traits.

The current version (version 1.30) is designed specifically for the analysis of co-dominant
and dominant markers using haploid and diploid data. It performs most types of data
analysis encountered in population genetics and related fields. It can be used to compute
summary statistics (e.g., allele frequency, gene diversity, genetic distance, F-statistics,
multilocus structure, etc.) for (1) single-locus, single populations; (2) single-locus,
multiple populations; (3) multilocus, single populations and (4) multilocus, multiple populations.[/showmore]▶ HP: http://www.ualberta.ca/~fyeh/popgene_download.html
