Parental Leave

To be fair, the US is the house that Jack built, where Jack is Ayn Rand.

Land of the fee and home of the slave.

Sorry, will read on the morrow.

I did brief read of the article and it presented good comparison between European attitudes and US attitudes towards parental leave. In my opinion it's very similar to the US's attitude toward's health care and other social policies. In other words if you don't have the resources to support yourself, there's no reason to expect the state to fund your well being because you decided to be poor and you should just pull yourself up by the bootstraps.

@ldmitruk Naked man got no bootstraps.

What I really like about Europe, is that more and more men actually take parental leave. I think that "trend" started in France and is one more step towards gender equality.

A good friend of mine took parental leave here in Alberta. I think he really enjoyed it, not to mention his wife was making better coin than he was. In general I think having the option available to both parents is a positive thing.

A surprisingly good article outlining the cultural differences between Europe and the US which has resulted in the latter being the only developed nation in the world to have no protections for parental leave.
Logistically how do you enable this? Or how would you enable this in the U.S.?

Thanks for adding the clown - it's exactly how I imagine you look while responding.

Even with a direct quote, I don't know what you mean by 'enable' which is why I asked you what YOU mean by 'enable'.

HONK HONK!

Welcome to living in the 21st century!

Meanwhile, some people are sadly still imprisoned in quasi-medieval oligarchies, and even more amusingly, they insist their cage remains locked.

Greetings

It's pretty clear that when you said "enable", Bogan, Spar read "implement", hence his question - effectively, why you think it would be difficult to implement it in America - given that it already exists. [1][2[[3]

There's an attempt to make it universal. [4]

Kindest regards,

James

I was asking for clarity because the wording was odd.

Logistically... enable?

If he just means 'implement' in terms of making it law, then the same way you'd implement any other law, so I don't quite understand what the question's meant to ask.

Ok take a look at the U.S. government and tell me they are efficient and competent and able to unify that system considering all of the limitless examples of incompetence regarding the U.S. government and laws not acting as intended.

To put into effect is what implement means. What does enable mean I wonder? Surely you do realize that enforcing the law requires authorization and permission to do something right? Go back to watching jeopardy old man and while you are at it learn the meaning of English words.

Translation: I clearly don't have the faintest idea what I'm yammering about, but if I beat my chest a bit then perhaps people will be distracted.
