Hi, I have some social conversations with fundie friends from time to time and we debate a lot. It's usually long and drawn out but my favorite are the times when they get put in their place so fast I just have to laugh literally out loud.

Let me preface this by saying we were talking about theories and why this particular person doesn't understand what a scientific theory is.

Fundie: Theory is not fact!
Me: Theory is made of facts.
Fundie: You just can't accept they are just theories.
Me: You don't even know what a theory is. Why don't you look at a dictionary, or would you like to argue against that too.
Fundie: Why so many dictionaries? Because you cannot trust just one.
Me: Oh, you mean like the bible?

I had a similar 'done in a few seconds' debate.

Person: Just because there is no scientific evidence for God doesn't mean it is wrong to believe in Him!
Me: Well, there's no scientific evidence for fairies, but you probably think it's wrong to believe in them. Why?
Person:...

After realizing that there is no evidence to support the existence of God, a theistic friend of mine said, "you have to have faith."

My response: Says who?

Theist: What do you mean?

Me: I mean, according to whom? Who says "you have to have faith?" Who makes that requirement of you?

Theist: God.

Me: But you've just accepted that we can't evidence God. How can we speak of things that he requires if we can't demonstrate that he exists in the first place? So I'll ask, again: Who says, "you have to have faith?" It sure as hell wasn't God.
