Heard about this on NPR when I was driving home from the store and I was shocked. Read the story and reply.

I could only imagine who horrifying it is to lose your child so close to birth but to then be accused of causing their death, going to court and having to pay money because of an accident... how backwards is that logic!?

That's pro-lifer logic at work

The National reported that the woman's car was struck from behind after she braked on a highway in Dubai, which like the rest of the UAE is notorious for fatal road accidents.

so, there's no evidence (yet presented) that she was even in the wrong, that she put herself and her child in any danger through any recklessness on her part... It sounds to me like whoever hit her (if at fault) is liable for the death of her child

Based on the evidence currently present: this is some fucked up bullshit

This is why I don't like Dubai. They're trying to put on a show pretending to be something they're not to attract Western tourists, but behind the curtain it's just more of the same Islamic fundamentalism just with nicer cars.

It may be to a lesser degree than other neighbouring countries, but even a pinch of that extremism is counter intuitive to what they're trying to do.
