So, basically.

My birthday is on the 6th, and I'm turning 18 - woo.
This means I get a slightly higher birthday budget. ;D

And as part of my present, I'm wanting more books. I said part, I AM cool - honest.

I've a vague idea of what I want to get, but I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions.

Vague areas of interest are obviously:
+ Biology; genetics, evolutions, zoology etc.
+ Physics; cosmology, quantum, astronomy etc.
+ History of science, all areas,
+ Philosophy; pretty much anything, maybe something nihilistic,
+ Politics; general and basic approaches, I'm no political genius, something on anarchism maybe,
+ General scepticism,

As well as classic fiction on the lines of 1984, Slaughterhouse 5 etc.

All help is helpful. :D

The Foundation trilogy by Isaac Asimov if you're looking for some classic fiction, the Nimrod flipout by Etgar Keret for light train reading.

I've been recommending Susan Jocoby a lot lately, Freethinkers and The age of American unreason are excellent.
