Media's coverage of "missing link" and public's ignorance

So I found this on Yahoo news about another key transitional fossil that was found recently. And a few things irks me. First is the very first line of that Yahoo news blurb:

"Folks who subscribe to the theory of evolution have long wondered about the famed missing link:"

That makes it sound like it's just some belief people choose to believe in instead of it being cold hard fact! Second, is my annoyance of the term "missing link" constantly being used in the media. It makes it sound like there's big gaping holes in the evidence for evolution that needs to be filled in by some magical "missing link" that hasn't been found because it seems that every week there's that next missing link to be found. The general public doesn't understand that there will always be some transitional fossil that's out there but it doesn't mean the evidence for evolution is any way lacking.

And if you read the comments on that news blurb, there's far more ignorance and stupidity on the subject of Evolution than not. I posted a few comments of my own but it's a losing battle!

Do I have to pay someone to keep my subscription current?

I don't know about anyone else, but as a long-time subscriber I'm not someone who has wondered about missing links, famed or otherwise. What a POS sentence, and on so many levels. There should be a prize for this.

I dunno the missing link, found...again news stories give me a chuckle. Not only are the creationists wrong about there being missing links, but we've actually found them as well.

For those of us lucky enough to have access to the iPlayer, there is currently a show regarding this latest discovery. The link follows.

even if we didnt have the missing link, there are plenty of other way we can determine and prove evolution.
