[Note: this only applies to people who will be in Manhattan, New York this weekend in the evening. Otherwise, this doesn't really apply to you at all.]

It's Manhattanhenge this weekend! For those of you out of the loop, Manhattanhenge is when the sun sets in a certain place so that the sunlight is cast parallel to the cross-streets of Manhattan.

Example:

As you can see, it's gorgeous. It only happens twice a year, so come out and see it tomorrow evening! It's best to watch along main streets, like 42nd or 34th.

WOW! That's amazing! Suddenly I'm so freakin' jealous.

Thank you for bringing this phenomenon to my attention though, I've got some fictional characters that live in and around Manhattan so this is one of those tidbits I love to hear!

Cool. Might have to take the ferry into the city if I get the chance.

Makes me wonder what archeologists in 6000 AD will think, when they excavate Manhattan. They might see it as a giant calendar... and if they find a figure of Ronald McDonald, they'll think it was a deity. And it wouldn't be that far from the truth ;)

Maybe Stonehenge itself is just a mammoth burger bar?
