I'm way out of my depth here and have been for a few months now. "Some flying thing" is the best I could've done, so I just avoid saying anything and wait for your (usually correct) answer. ;)

http://www.palaeocritti.com/by-group/pterosauria/rhamphorhynchus - the fossil in the picture looks the same as the one posted in the challenge, doesn't it?

Nice catch. That specimen is indeed a replica. Lots of specimens ones see on display at museums are replicas.
