Paramount and Reel Fx have announced plans to make In The Beginning, a 3D telling of the creation story.

Hidalgo writer John Fusco has penned a screenplay for the Book Of Genesis-based project, which David Cunningham (The Path To 9/11) is attached to direct.

Cary Granat will produce the $30 million project, aiming to catch the faith-based audiences that made The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe and Mel Gibson's The Passion Of The Christ big box office hits, reports Deadline Hollywood.

Any thoughts on this?

What? It wasn't just the religious who liked that film! I liked the book when I was younger and the film was alright to watch. My Dad didn't like the religious symbolism-he never read the book because of it- but to be honest, I didn't mind and I doubt most people cared one way or the other. The majority of the audience will have been people just after a good kids' film.

Christianity. Aslan is a metaphor for Jesus- he is the son of the "Emperor over the Sea"; he sacrifices himself for the sins of Edmund; he is then resurrected and kills the White Witch (the devil).

Also, Santa Claus.

Thats a good one, I hadn't even looked at it that way. I just mindlessly watched that movie.
For me it wasn't noticeable at all.

Exactly. To the vast majority of viewers it will have simply been a thing to watch during the Christmas period.

The movie might be good, I don't know. As long as they're not attack science or trying to indoctrinate anyone, I got no problem with it. I think "The Prince of Egypt" was a decent movie when it came out, even though it glorified Moses like hell.

About Narnia, I don't have problems with the religious undertones, except for the second movie (not the book it's based on), which became just so over-the-top silly.
