This is an interesting discussion I've had with other atheists. If God, the one with a capital G, the Abrahamic creator of everything, was real would you follow his rules?
Personally, I would not. I do not agree with his rules, I do not believe him worthy of worship based on his actions and inactions and I'd be willing to burn in Hell forever based on a matter of principal.
As a follow up question, if God was real but was lying about his power, would you want to go the next step and try to destroy him?
I'm not sure on this one, it would matter how much benefit I could pull out of the situation. If God was powerful but not all powerful, I could possibly manipulate the situation to acquire power myself of some degree and I am power hungry if I am anything.
So, throw logic and reason out the window for a minute and let's play pretend; what would you be like if God was real?
