Hovind series ep21

...that can be viewed as a rape, in a fatalist sort of sense. Either the virgins would have to go with and eventually marry Isrealites, or be left for dead. There was no real industry for woman to do much of anything except raise families.

These are my thoughts on it anyways. I have an obvious bias so take it for what its worth.

Well I don't think you need God to tell you that it is wrong to steal or sleep with someones wife. I don't think the idea of right and wrong is a strange thing. The major point of what God gave to us in the Bible is that Law = Death . No matter what law He gives us, we will break it. That is how we are. We will all sin, no matter what laws you make for us. We will hurt each other and destroy the world and there is no law you can make to stop that.

Thank you for this: "Well I don't think you need god to tell you that it is wrong to steal or sleep with someones wife."

Often I have seen fundamental Christians insist they would have no idea what is good and what is evil without their belief in the Christian gods. (I suppose everyone in League of Reason has observed this bizarre assertion / self confession.) I also suppose that they are not speaking truthfully--- if they were, they would be a major threat to everyone around them.

The issue in the discussion (other than computer "minds") is teaching science (specifically: biology) to young people and if it harms them in a "spiritual" way --- I have no idea what that word means. Does this break the laws of the Christian gods? If so, how?

"The major point of what god gave to us in the Bible is that law = death . No matter what law he gives us, we will break it."

I am terribly sorry, but the Christian gods did not have anything to do with the Bible. The the Christian gods have laws, I presume they apply to themselves, and not to humans: if their laws applied to us then I am sure they will some day let us know,

Im sure I have probably said something like that on this forum years ago. But it is not something I believe anymore. I know many fundamentalists have said non-believers only learn morality by imitating Christians. But I have never seen evidence of this actually being true. I am somewhat of a fundamentalist myself but doubt any of you would learn much about morality by hanging out with me. I could maybe teach you how to do drugs and fuck up relationships with people you care about and thats about it.

Aron Ra was the first person I heard of to start asking Christians to identify the first created "kinds". This is a brilliant question. But it works both ways. I am of the opinion that if a creator God does exist, then it would be impossible for anyone to know for certain what these "kinds" were. No?

Well in the Bible God gave hundreds of laws to the Isrealites and said to follow them. There are commandments God gave also which arent always the same thing as laws I guess. The first commandment in God gave in the Bible was basically to have a lot of sex. But I dont think this this really counts as a law. Does God have sex? Do Angels? I have no idea.
