AKA Valery

I HAVE NO DEGREE! I DO NOT KNOW what I am talking about,
I have a 3rd grade level in general studies.
so please let me know how
I can improve on this, But remember I am trying to put this in layman's.

What I am hoping, is that I can explain this without the use of big words. What i have noticed is that when someone tries to tell others (Christians) they do not understand even if you try to put it in High school words, so i am going to try and take a stab and put in in 10 or 13 year olds education.

--------------------

Higgs boson in layman's and a nut shell.

The Standard Model - math that physicists found, based on all the experimental evidence about atoms, matter, electromagnetism, etc. - predicts that the Higgs boson exists, and it predicts that it is responsible for why particles have mass. WHY THINGS HOLD TOGETHER. god did not do it, god is not holding things together.

So far, in particle accelerator experiments, we have observed every single particle predicted by the Standard Model, except the Higgs boson. So, if the Standard Model (which is, right now, our best explanation for where matter and the forces that tie it together comes from) is right, the Higgs boson must exist. If the Higgs boson doesn't exist, then the Standard Model is incomplete, and the physicists need to come up with a better explanation.

-----------------

Why can't we observe it without it using such a massive particle accelerator, Like the Large Hadron Collider?

The Higgs Boson is not quite as common as the Proton, and it's not something very common, or/and observable,

It's because it is small and rare;)

---------------------

Higgs mechanism layman's

The Higgs Mechanism, in the standard model, is a method by which gauge bosons/ particles that act as carriers of the fundamental forces of nature. in any theories of gauge symmetry gain mass.

there are 3 of them:

1: Gluon (gluons carry the strong interaction)

2: W and Z bosons (carry the weak interaction)

3: Photon, (carry the electromagnetic interaction)

The people at CERN, and Fermilab, and everywhere else are trying to observe, involves the second on that list: The W and Z bosons.

The Higgs is more like, if you imagine everywhere around the universe, there is a sticky liquid substance that pierce all things, that is completely transparent, and you don't feel it at all. It's like universe sticky liquid. All stuff that pass through this goop, take a tiny bit of it with them as they move through space, and this gives those particles their mass. Kind of.

--------------------------------

Whats the whole thing about???

The LHC will actually be used for a huge number of questions that are still out there,

some of them incredibly cool, some of them a little less cool, to the layman,

but all of them amazing, for instance:

How dose Dark Matter work in the universe?

Are there other dimensions? Not like the "other dimensions" you're thinking of."

They're more dimensions in a physics sense, These findings will have the power to potentially validate, or invalidate, many models of String Theory.

What were conditions like when the universe was first beginning?

Why dose the Strong, Electroweak, and electromagnetism, exist? and

How did they interacted back at the beginning of the universe?

Why dose gravity works?,

What it's made of?, and

Why is gravity much more weak than all of the others forces?

Is there anything else to matter and antimatter?

All of this will open up new ideas, studies, inventions, and so on.

Firstly, Hallo Valery, thank you for joining us. :)

Secondly, erm.....what you've written certainly makes it sound like you have a decent, layman's grasp of this subject. However, I don't quite understand why you've made that post, as you don't pose any questions, or raise any particular points for discussion.

Could you please enlighten me as to your purpose? :)

well, from what i have seen on youtube, most if not all the videos are too confusing, so i want to make some videos but put them in words that even a child could understand, so I hope that others here may be able to add or take away from this, Any ideas can help. Please, note i will also like ideas for other things also like evolution.

I think that most people don't think evolution is true, just because they do not understand it.

Help me, help the layman's, let me know where i can better this.

As a layman myself I don't believe I can add anything to what you've written, so I'll leave it for more knowledgeable members to comment.

Good luck in your endeavours. :D

Altough a nobel cause to try and understand things from a layman prespective, I find it a bit misguided because from my personal experience of interacting with scientific subjects, the idea of things that the scientist has when trying to explain things to layman is nothing like the idea that the layman get from that explenation. It doesn't really get you very far. I remember when I was working at some labs as a layman and people used to tell me some of the stuff they did and I was like "that doesn't make any sense, that is absurd, that can not be". Later when I started to study some of the topics at uni and get the formal methodological aproach with all the bells and wistles and associated details I was like "OH! So that's what they meant, yeah it makes sense".

You can only get a real apreciation for things when you know it in depth, that requires less fun work to get to that valuable gem.

I understand that, however there are Some pepole who have an iq of like 3 and can not ever understand complex things
I my self am one of them. i have a learning dissibility and memory issue, some of these pepole will never know science to be true and cling to relgions becouse "god did it" is so much easer. just so you know and understand i am not spell checking, also what i have done to this higgs definitions is copy and past from wiki and replace the big words with small one, then make the sencents sound ok. I know that there are some who have the wantingness to learn about the higgs and others but Can not. thus this is what i came up with, and thats why i would like others opions as to any thing i can change, that actualy understand the higgs. please understand i did not know of anyother way, and this is something that i would like to understand and would gladly post a youtube video and give credit where its due.

I am Atheist and do not think god(s) are real, I want to understand science but it is beyond my graps. as well as meany others.

Have you used English wiki for this? Perhaps Simple English would be of use in trying to find as accessible language as possible?

thank you I did not know that existed. SELF and knowing is half the battle GI-JOE lol :D thank you i will read it and see what i can do with it . i will let you all know how i do, and please if anyone has any more ideas it would be kool.
I realy did not know i thought that there was only one wikipedia
