Hi, I am Xenophanes

I guess this where I would introduce myself. I probably should have introduced myself before commenting.

I stumbled across this website through the rationalwiki, I thought I would come and offer some ideas and criticism. I think science is the only route to emprical truth, and criticism is the route to the more general truths, like metaphysical truths and moral truths. I say this with full cognizanze that I might be accused of anti-scientific sentiments, but actually my criticisms are mainly directed at the prevalent view of how is science is carried out, and how it ought to be carried out. I disagree with all types of epistemic subjectivism, epistemic relativism and inductivism. If you want to label me, I am what is called a critical rationalist.

I hope our critical engagements here will be fruitful.

I am called Xenophanes, because of his poem:

“The gods did not reveal, from the beginning,
All things to us, but in the course of time
Through seeking we may learn and know things better.
But as for certain truth, no man has known it,
Nor shall he know it,neither of the gods
Nor yet of all the things of which I speak.
For even if by chance he were to utter
The final truth, he would himself not know it:
For all is but a woven web of guesses”
