Have you been covid vaxxed? Why or why not?

My better half was working in a special covid intensive care unit up for year, starting around March 2020. They were expecting to have to treat around 2000 people for that year but it ended up only being around 300. It was a lot less worse than what they had planned for. Being in ICU for covid where I live basically means you are on a ventilator and given Remdesivir. All of their patients were in their 70's except for a few people in their late 60's. 2 or 3 people died and the rest all went home after about 10 days.

So from this I decided that Covid is a treatable illness which affects mostly the elderly and haven't been vaccinated.

I haven't been vaccinated. Not because of some strange conspiracy bollocks, I just haven't bothered. I live alone, work alone and very rarely come into close contact with strangers. Just my life.

I have. Haven't followed any conspiracy theories, so I had no reason not to.
You know, @Led Zeppelin, not vaccinating yourself cause it "only kills the elderly" kinda means you're willing to sacrifice them. After all, you might catch it, and not be overly affected by it, but spread it to someone else who dies from it.

Right. Except that the vaccine doesn't actually prevent transmission of covid. Else I probably would have been vaxxed already.

Have you been examined for autism? Yeah, none of my business; now and then I encounter someone who might be autistic and not know yey or nay.

Or in other words: "Why should I operate a vehicle on the highway late at night with my headlights on? I am protected by everyone else because they have their headlights on." I suppose it is the same for inebriated automobile operators: it is okay because everyone else will get out of my way if I veer into on-coming traffic."

Gosh, how very odd, then, that the world's experts disagree with you.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: "COVID 19-vaccines are effective at preventing you from getting and spreading COVID-19."

Double vaxxed.

Poor excuse for not getting vaccinated, any vaccine doesn't neccessarrily prevent transmission of the disease it was developed for. Howevewr a vaccine can reduce the risk of transmission, reduce the severity of an illness and so on. Would you refuse any vaccinbe because it doesn' t prevent transmission of a disease?

Let me put it this way;

If you vaxxed everyone on the entire planet you would still end up back at square one, once the effectiveness of the vaccine wanes. The only difference there will be is that you will have more people with heart problems, blood clotting problems and other health issues cause by the vaccines. Vaccinating people over and over again is not the solution.

The focus should be on treatment. It is a treatable disease. The real experts are those who have experience in treating it.

No, of course not. Why do you ask?
Well, you are saying you won't get the Covid vaccination because it doens't prevent transmission. So I was wondering if your thinking extended to other vaccinations as well.

The cost of treatment is way more expensive than the cost of vaccination., especially when the patient ends up in the hospital. It makes more sense to get as people vaccinated as possible. This will keep more people out of hospitals, thus reducing overal costs to our health care systems. And it keeps beds open for treatment of other diseases.

Here in Alberta treatment for cancer patients had to be put on hold because our hospital system was so fulll of Covid patients there was no capacity for the cancer patients. This case shows just how tragic it was for one particular patient. Imagine having to be told your treatment for cancer or other serious condition had to be put off because there was no hospital capacity as a result of people not getting vaccinated for a disease.

Not getting vaccinated for Covid is just plain selfish.

Will tell you a little secret neither do the vaccines for children diseases but without them child deaths would be so much higher. The smallpox is the only virus that was eradicated by vaccinations it toke years but its gone. Vaccinations protects someone from getting the full blown disease. As for transmission its less then not vaccinated why because you have x% chance of not getting sick at all, so you cant transmit what you do not have.

As for me I’m vaccinated went to my specialist doctor and asked if i could take the vaccine because of my medical history. The answer was yes you can take the vaccine, one week later first jab 6 weeks later second one. Before the jab 2 paracetamol and 6 hours later 1 more and before sleep 2 more never had any issues no fever or pain in the arm.

Watch this how it works, its children cartoon but the explanation is still good and how it works.

Thanks. I will consider this input. My worst nightmare would be if one of my loved ones got sick because I made the wrong choice about getting vaxxed.

My doctor said the following you vaccinate for yourself first then to protect others. When vaccinated you have less chance to infect others.
The problem I have is the only people I know who have actually had covid since the vaxx was available have both received 3 shots. "Double Vaccinated", I guess is what they call it.

Then I read about places in the world where 100% percent of the people are vaccinated and are having major outbreaks. Or a Mother Jones article about a Harvard study which found no correlation between vaxxed rates and covid cases...makes me a bit skeptical.
