I appear still to be alive, much to the chagrin of some.

The new digs look nice.

Thank you, brother. Really glad to see you still around and doing the lard's work.

Greetings,

Very glad you're still here, Hack - I was concerned for you from your last posts before LoR crashed.

I hope things have worked out for you!?

Kindest regards,

James

Thank you, James.

I'm still in a pretty bad place, and in fact it got a lot worse after that, but I'm trying to find my way out. I resurrected the blog a few days ago, and I'm casting around for inspiration to find my mojo again and get back to writing.

Currently isolated for various reasons, and I rarely see humans these days. My fiancé is still 4500 miles away and we're stuck like that until at least a good while after all this pandemic shit is over, assuming we ever get to a situation in which we can address it and get back together.

Still, I'm breathing.

Hope all is well with you.

Greetings,

You have a life-line in your fiancée, regardless of anything else.

Like everyone else,, I've spent months in lock-down due to Covid, though things are beginning to ease here in Ireland. I've spent most of that time just reading. I found it ironic that people complained about being stuck inside all the time - "Just read a book!", I thought. :)

Had my first shot (Pfizer), and will get the second in four weeks. Then I might get out more. Due to being Type 2, and having underlying breathing-related health problems, I was extremely cautious going out for food, medicines, etc., but I've managed to avoid catching it.

So, "back to normal" soon, we hope.

Again,, great to see you posting - I enjoy your physics ones particularly. I'll try and keep my eye out for anything in that regard that might interest you.

Kindest regards,

James

Thank you, brother.

I was hoping that Ireland might be a source of solution for us, but that was prior to the pandemic. I'm dual national, you see, though my passport lapsed quite a long time ago, meaning that I have to take the long route to replacement, meaning in turn that I have to come to Dublin, which isn't happening until all this over at least.

Greetings,

My own has expired as well.

I would have thought you could just post your old one with new photos, and contact details, as I've done before - or has the process changed?

Kindest regards,

James

That would certainly be the case if my last passport were post-digital, but it expired in about 1986, further complicated by the fact that I was a minor when it happened. Legally, I'm still a dual national, but the challenge is in proving it.

Frankly, I'd been thinking, like many of our compatriots, about coming home in the immediate aftermath of the referendum, because I quite like the freedoms that EU membership affords. Ultimately, events conspired to take over and meant that I couldn't even think about getting the ball rolling until just before the pandemic hit, and here we are.

I have a lot of hoops to jump through, and I can't reach any of them at the moment.

Greetings,

That's rather unfortunate. Mine only expired in 2019, so no real problem. I certainly hope that, when things settle down, you'll be able to make progress.

Kindest regards,

James

Thank you kindly. :D
