I have set up the following account : http://www.youtube.com/user/Freespeechfund
The plan is to use this account as a bargaining chip when we ask youtube to fix the flaws in their system that impact on free expression. A tall order I know but let me explain how this is meant to work.
The plan works from the following understanding:
Youtube are loosing a massive amount of money. It is my understanding that it is in the region of 1.5 - 2 million USD a day. They desperately need income and advertising is the only real option they have to achieve this.
It is my understanding that youtube partners share the advertising revenue with youtube for every click of the adverts on their videos. These adverts do not exist on regular users video's so for each partnership they give out youtube gain an extra source of income.
I have also heard it mentioned that the amount of money partners get is quite small, requiring a vast number of clicks before they receive a sizable amount of money.
The plan:
At the moment there are mostly false DMCA & vote bot mirrors on the channel however these are not planned to be the staple videos posted there.
Instead the plan is to use the Freespeechfund channel in a similar way to that of Ffreethinker and Bestofscience channels as a showcase of the best videos on youtube that deal with the subjects we are interested in. This generates attention for the smaller users in our community who are featured. All videos used should have no youtube recognized copyright infringing material in them.
By publicizing this channel and it gaining subscribers and views the intention is to apply for partnership. As and when this is obtained the real key to the plan kicks in.
It is to be made understood that everyone should click on the adverts on the channel. This only takes seconds and the pop up windows or tabs can be closed.
By doing this the users will make the channel one of the most profitable (subscriber : income ratio) for youtube. This will serve as a demonstration of our community's value to youtube and serves to amplify our voices when we ask for changes.
The money generated for the channel is to be used to help the less fortunate. I intend for it to go to the internationally active charity Save the children.
This way the users who click on the adverts are determinately going to do some good regardless of the success of the channel in youtube terms.

I would like to just add the following notes.
The donations will either be set up to go straight to Save the Children from Youtube or if that is not possible then independent checks on the money trail will be carried out.
I have not publicized the fact that I am running this channel as I do not need any potential backlash from our favorite censors to come to my channel. If you could see fit to keep it that way then I will appreciate it.
